Hypoid gear oil

Newbie question so please go easy.

I am changing out my differential, transmission/PTO, and transfer case oils on my '52 FFPW and the manual states to use 80 or 90 weight gear oil. For the differentials I'm going to use 80w90 HYPOID gear oil. Can I use the same hypoid gear oil in the transmission and transfer case or should I go with a non-hypoid version? I know some people put in 40 or 50 weight heavy duty engine oil in their transmissions/transfer cases. Any thought which might be better?
