I'm fortunate to have three auto parts stores within walking distance of my house, it'd be much more hassle (and mess) have to drive out of town to get kerosene (not readily available in suburbia), and I don't have a compressor to blow the dirt out. So relative to my location, a dry filter is more convenient.
Interesting about the airflow though, I would have thought that paper would supply much more air than an oil bath, especially at high rpm's.
