The Cummins 5.9BT can put out from 160 to 275-300 hp, and 400-660 ft-lb. A 440 can be "built" up to probably 375 hp, but only by getting high rpms out of it. Without a supercharger, torque is limited to probably 350-400 ft-lb. So the Cummins out-torques the 440 by a big margin. A Cummins 3.9BT can probably be safely made to out-torque a 440!
