I agree that a well tuned carb is pretty efficient, but the Q-jet carb thats on the truck was overhauled by a shop in the fall. Before the overhaul, MPG was about 10 and After the overhaul is dropped to around 7 mpg. I have retuned the carb at the front with the air/fuel set screws about a dozen times without much response in better mpg. To me, it doesn't make sense that after a rebuild a carb would burn more fuel... My only other idea would be to start changing out the jets and metering rods in the carb on a trial and error process to test for better mpg from the carb...but I kinda didnt wanna put even more time and $$ into the carb if a TBI upgrade would be better of mpg over the jet/rod changes...
