I took the front axle apart on a 51 I am rebuilding and the u-joint like piece was in a million pieces, the axle itself was broken and the inside of the cup like end of the axle housing was severly scrapped up. The end of the cup is marred and not flat i.e. if you stood the axle housing on this end you would have spaces between the floor and the axle housing. Can this be rebuilt? I have an extra axle from a 46 that is good - would I be better off swapping them provided it is the same gear ratio? I have shop manuals coming from Vintage but thought I would ask you all as I am sure several of you have been here before.....Thanks for you continued help - MARK - HOME PA
