Paul,
You may want to find out if you are concerned about fuel milage. I keep fuel/milage records EVERY time I fill up.
My average MPG is 17, 12 while towing my 53 PW. My F-350 has 3:73 rear gears.
I have a 96, F350, 5 spd, 7.3 diesel, daulie, crew cab with 121,000 miles on it and I have had very little repairs since I got her at 6 years old with 47,000 miles.
I am extremely happy with her. Slow off the line but it is not a sports car. Helps keep the interactions with the traffic cops to a minimum.
It needed a new water pump, flywheel, vacum boost, a pulley, some minor front end. I just did the front brakes and did the rears a year ago.
Brad Zelinski in TX has been very helpful and told me to go with the LUK aftermarket flywheel and HD clutch system.
Some cons are:
-Ford parts are expensive. Find other
sources
-Cold weather starting is rough.
-Ford front ends are rarely in alignment.
-16 quart oil changes. Pre fill the filter
before installing it.
Hope this helps.
