1963 d-300 dually dana 70

I started servicing the rear axle and when I removed the axle shaft, gear oil started running out. Does this mean the seal has failed and does this axle have inner and outer seals. Also what size socket is needed to remove the wheel bearing retaining nut. Its larger than the 2 9/16" socket that is used on the dana 60. Any advice/part numbers will be greatly appreciated.
