Oh yeah and the 1997 year also added piston head oil spray nozzles, an extra thermostat and bigger main cap studs. The 5 speed manual NV 4500 or the 4L80E with overdrive are both great transmissions as well. One of my GM diesels is on the road every day working. I use them hard. Hauling for my masonry business in summer, plowing and towing in winter. They have held up more than any ford and many of the post 1990 dodges I have had to work with. I'll stop my praise now and see what kind of heat I'll get from die hard dodgers.
