george may be old but is still sharpe !!! wheel cylinders do come in different sizes (diameters} and its not uncommon to see different sizes front verses rear but no matter the brakes either drum or disc or combination off the two there must be a lower pressure to the rear wheels and thats why a proportioning valve is used also in most cases the front wheels carry wider shoe width as they do most of the braking if you did not have a proportioning valve every time you apply the brakes the rear wheels would lock up as the weight tranfer is FOWARD and the rears would be on first you might as well have rear wheel brakes only if it were not for the bpv to activate front brakes more than the rear
