My M37 at some point was given a 230 Ci Industrial engine. This engine has a military spec number on the nameplate, so I assume this was done while the truck was still in service....Only difference I have noticed so far is the placement of the fuel pump, which is in the rear a little close to the exhaust downtube. In that setup I wrapped the downtube with some of that insulating wrap material to keep the heat away from the fuel pump to avoid vapor locks. So far no problems. The block has the forward hole in the same spot as the standard T-245 engine but there is no lobe on the cam in that spot, so I assume the same blocks were used on these engines just the fuel pump openings were moved for whatever the reason. Now I have no experience with any other 230 engines, but I can tell you my truck's engine runs just fine under varying speeds but is a little slow on hills, which fro what I understand is normal for these engines as they are all underpowered for their application to some degree.
