I agree with Chris. welding on any frame must not be taken lightly. The engineers try to do their best ( hopefully)at designing a frame that will carry the designed loads yet flex enough to not tear itself apart. The old school way was to rivet a double wall frame together. With todays alloy steel and manufacturing techniques it is usually not necessary except on the big trucks to have a multi -wall frame. So, be thoughtfull on welding a frame.
