I wouldn't think a '52 would be toooo small.

Aftermarket gauges come with a bunch of adapters, but I don't know if they fit the bulb- my bulb was a tight fit through the adapter in my head, that's why they get stuck and then broken on removal attempt. The right way to remove one is to knock out the freeze plug on top of the head, and pry the bulb out from inside.
