Back in the fall I did an oil change on the Ram. Drained the oil, pulled the filter, replaced the filter. All ready to add the oil when I realised I had not checked to make sure the old filter seal was with the old filter. I look and sure enough it was missing. I pulled the new filter and it was stuck to the block. I removed it and spun the new filter back on and dumped in 7 quarts of oil. While letting the oil drain out, and then while the new oil was filling I was cleaning out the truck, vacuuming it etc. After the oil was all added I started her up. Very soon I see oil spraying and shut it down to see what was up. Oil flooding out past the filter. I pulled the filter and the seal had been dislodged by tightening it onto the old seal. I had not looked at it when I had it off. Re-set the seal, dumped in almost a full load of oil and hopped back in to pull out of the shop so I could get some speedi-dri on the oil all over the floor.
Backing out of the shop in a hurry, hearing the open passenger side back door hit the garage door frame and folding it forward was icing on the cake.

I changed the oil again a couple of weeks ago very uneventfully!
Now that was a Stupid Award Day for sure!
