Who's Smart With Clutches? 71 W300....

I need to know what clutch is in a 71 W300 with a 383...is it a 12" clutch?
Is it a lever clutch or is it a diaphram clutch?
Is it a 1", 23 spline disc?
What changed in 1972 & why will they not work in a 1971 application?
The specs look the same to me but something is obviously different. Lots of real good performance clutches available for 72 & newer but when you look up 71 bib block...NA??
Is there something I can change, like a flywheel & then the 72 clutch will work for me?
