Here is an image of a 1940 VC-5 nose, note the 1939 headlight buckets, VC/VF only hood ornament, the holes in the grill for the grill guard supports, and the 1940 stainless trim.
The only incorrect things I see in this picture are the broken off bumper, and the holes for the grill guard supports are slightly damaged on the edges. Otherwise everything in that picture is correct VC, including the VC/VF only crank hole in the lowest piece of stainless.
Those are some of the details I guessed were wrong for a VC-5 when I saw the 1941-47 hood ornament in your first picture, which were confirmed with the front shot you showed.
