WLS (which stood for World's Largest Store as it was started by Sear's) AM 890, and WCFL, AM 1000. Larry Lujack was the big jock there from the mid 70's & there was another, Dick Beondi.
WLS was also the 1st radio station in Chi Town to go FM, & from 8PM til midnight it was all "UNDERGROUND". Now am I dating myself?
BTW, after countless resurfacings, Grand Avenue STILL has countless burnout marks. Mr. Norms was within walking distance of my old "Hood". Being I was a Chebbie guy, it was kinda like goin to enemy territory, but ya always went in there with a certain amount of respect.
It was kinda funny too, the sales/display area was always so tiny compared to the shop area, which was MASSIVE! Ya walk thru the doors & it was kinda like goin to the "Grove", X-Mass trees on both sides of the doors. The parts counter was set up like the tower at the Grove (Union Grove, Wisconsin, WHERE THE GREAT ONES RUN).
