Yeah but, I remember goin to Gary, IN. It was like drivin into a dark room, and the smell wasn't all that great either. Then there was the Cal-Sag. We used to call it the drainage canal. Oven fresh arroma. HA! The Chicago River, ANYBODY could walk across it without any divine intervention.
I too think about "What If" I kept this or that car/truck, but the truth is, it'da probably rusted apart. Once the damn salt gets on vehicles, it's a major battle to keep em from rustin apart. I had an 85 Suburbam that the body literally fell off due to rust.
I paid $1200.00 for my 67 Buick Skylark GS 400 in 69. That was my 1st decent, non beater car. I saw one for sale up in Volo & about choked when I saw what it was goin for. Hell, I kept it until 78, & it still didn't have any rust as I really took care of it, completely repainting it 3 times (all color changes too). No Bondo either. The guy that bought it from me wrecked it 2 weeks after he got it. Freakin moron. Memories. HA!
