When the vehicle has sat for several days without being started, like from one weekend to the next, we can't get it to start. No matter how much you pump the gas pedal it just wont start until you take a gas can and dribble some gas down the throat of the carb. She fires up and runs fine thereafter until the next weekend.
Other symptoms include on occassion, and only on occassion, when you start to put the engine under load, you keep applying more gas pedal, but she bogs down and looses power. This could happen when I am climbing the mountain, or accelerating onto the highway. Starts out then at the critical point she just dies off.
I'm obviously guessing its a fuel delivery problem but I also wonder if the two problems are not related.
Why won't it start cold after its been sitting? Could it be a bad fuel pump? Clogged fuel line? But why would it run just fine after the initial startup?
Why does it peter out under load, but only sometimes, and not predictable?
