So rotor could be at 1:00 or 7:00.

You'll have to pull the #1 plug, hold finger blocking the spark plug hole, and bump it over. Stop when the air pressure blows your finger off the hole. You are now close to #1 TDC. Turn over by hand until the marks line up.

Firing order of ALL straight 6's is 15 36 24:

15 is too young,
36 is too old,
24 is just right.

Flat heads turn clockwise.
