230 Timing

I'm about ready to crank the 230 in my 57.

Where on the distributor timing adjustment plate is TDC?

I assume it is in the center of the slot but can't find a mark. If so, it was set to 10 deg before TDC and running but I cleaned a lot of carbon build up off the head. I probably need to set it closer to TDC.

Do most run best at 2 deg after TDC as specified in the shop manuals?
