The degrees are on the crankshaft dampner. There is a timing arrow on the timming gear cover, straight below the water pump. Rotate the engine on the compression stroke of #1 cylinder to TDC. You may have to clean the dampner to see the degrees. You can time by attaching a test light to the points arm and rotate the distributor until the light comes on. You can also tune a radio to a noise channel, place close to the distributor. Rotate distributor until you hear a pop, then tighten the lock plate bolt.
