I don't see how ending the auction early means pulling it if the bids aren't high enough. Most desireable items get bid up immensely in the last few minutes of the auction, so there's no way to tell until then how much it's likely to go for. I interpret "reserve the right to end the auction early" to mean "I have it for sale locally as well and will pull it if somebody local buys it."
