the t98 was used in military m37s built in canada. the canadian m37s also had 251s in them opposed to the 230s. maybe the truck was for the canadian market or parts were swapped in. if you think backwards, you could put a 540 od in a m37 if you can find a canadian bell housing??? would that work?? sure would make hopping up a 265 and getting a 5 speed a lot easier as you could spend your v8 money on dual manifolds, cams and balancing. say it aint that easy. hope that helps.
