"Explosive Whistle" ???

Any old car aficionados here? I've got a whistle for sale on eBay. I assumes it was a stem whistle, but one bidder says it is an Explosion Whistle, made for screwing into the priming port on gas engines.

This brought a thought to mind, re: that port in the head over #6, I gues it coulc be used for 3 things; checking timing; priming with gas (just one cylinder); or this Explsion Whistle.

The bidder did send me a jpeg in Windows Picture viewer of a similar whistle. I could forward it to interested folks.
