Perhaps two things to be learned from that. One is, discuss the money first. If they don't agree to being charged, leave them there. The risk to your vehicle is too great to do it for free, and in today's world, if you scratch their car they will think you should pay for it. Ingrates.

The other is one I have learned from a number of wrecker drivers. Don't set the car back on the ground until the bill is paid. If the bill is not paid, the vehicle leaves with the wrecker.

Drunks are particularly bad about trying to stiff a wrecker driver.
