Its best to follow instructions, but there is a lot of latitude. More than they tell you as I had an old paint guy show me on the TR job.
I think DP-40 (and its color varient cousins still take the cake for long term corrosion protection. I'm going on 10+ years w no rust.
FWIW, I used Martin Senour paints (both acrylic enamel and urethane enamel) last time and really liked the paint (better than PPG) but hated the primer. And I'm not about to *think* of mixing systems....<sigh>
