Back when I painted the Bumblebee (300 years ago) the PPG dealer recomended the MP-170 Epoxy Primer followed with the MOA Frame Black.
The MP170 has a 3 day window, in which it must be top coated or you have to sand it lightly and re-shoot more MP-170. If you can not shoot the MOA within the 3 day window, then he told me to shoot MP-182 surfacer primer as this stop the clock running on the MP170. The MP-182 has no time limit for top coat. Its also a sandable primer hi build.
I never questioned the PPG Dealer abotu other products, just went with his recomendations, and all has worked well for me.
I am a total novice with Paint Systems and do exactly what I am told when shooting.
