They had a few less after I left. I grabbed a string of BelRay and Hang 10 pendants from the side of the track as I left.
1977 does sound right for Jim Pomeroy's win. I was dissapointed because the 125cc guys were racing at Sandy Oaks, a local track here in Illinois, and I had to miss seeing Marty Smith and Bob Hannah because we were going on vacation to California. But getting to go the to the 500cc U.S.G.P at Carlsbad really made up for it. I thought Jim won both motos though. Maybe he won just one and still got the overall win? That was a long time ago. The memory is fading.
Mid Ohio in 1978 was fun with about 6 inches or rain the night before. I think Johhny O'Mara won there but you could not see any numbers because of the mud let alone the make or colors of the bikes.
Each of the midwest tracks I raced on were completely different from one another. One was long and sweeping with hige hills like Carlsbad, but with deep loom. Another was back in the timber, tight and technical with many horse shoes and steep hills, but all clay. Another was flat and all sand (read giant whoops) next to a river.
