I know everybody else has already put in their $.02 worth, but I would do as suggested here: have somebody take you over to his place, then just get in the truck and drive it home. You don't even need keys for a military rig, unless you put something in it yourself, in which case you know exactly how to bypass it. In any kind of legal dispute, you're always better off making the other guy be the one to come after you and prove his point. Don't even bother doing it at night. Just go over to his place and get it. If he questions you, tell him exactly what you're doing. Worst case scenario is he calls the cops. Unless there's something you're not telling us, you will have the title, registration, proof of insurance and ID on your person when the trooper pulls you over. Seems like a no-brainer. Let your "friend" try to sue you for whatever he thinks you owe him in hauling expenses, based on whatever you honestly agreed to, but get the truck back at your place ASAP.
