My truck was rewired with a new Painless wiring harness and has been running fine. Suddenly I have a drain on the battery, enough to drain it overnight, but not a wire burning short. A suggestion that the alternator field was energised turned out to be correct. This is the GM one wire alternator that VPW sells to replace the generator/regulator. Is my problem with the internal regulator? Shouldn't the alternator stop drawing any current with the truck shut down? Any insight here would be appreciated. BB
