The strong Canadian dollar has put an interesting twist to trade relations. We in agriculture almost thought that the Canadians kept their dollar always a little weaker to have the trade anvantage. Two years ago the J.R. Simplot Co built a potato processing plant in Portage LaPrarie Manitoba instead of Idaho. They enjoyed 2 years of low prices. Now the potatoes are just as expensive and now the buyers (McDonalds) decided that the Idaho potato growers can do a better quality job than the Canadians. Finally glad to see a stronger Canadian dollar. TOm
