okay, driving all around town,in the hot 107* ,going uphills,in traffic,on highways, we have NO problem. temp gauge stays below halfway point.that is with NO load behind us.
HOWEVER,as soon as I hook up my empty gooseneck trailer(27ft,3900lbs)and we drive, the gauge will creep a little bit over the halfway mark, towards the H ,but as we drive up any hills or on any highway w/an incline, we watch and the gauge just moves & moves & moves towards the H(hot). it then starts to smell like antifreez (we use a 50/50 mix) and when we stop and pull over, it cools down and we watch the needle slowly move back to the center of gauge.under the hood, the top hose is rock hard and too hot to touch, and the resiviour is full of antifreez.we hear bubbling noises, and if we'de keep driving it we know for sure it would blow and boil over everywhere.husband is removing the head gaskets, changing them, also checking the water jackets for dirt grime and sediment, and then replacing the freezeplugs ( one of them had a small hole and was corroded).
like you said, so much has been tried,so much has been replaced, its gotta be internal.the only thing not been done is the headgaskets,so wha would it hurt to do that too?
we'll keepya posted ~
