paint finishing question

I have tried my skills at painting some panels on my 52 ffpw. I used single stage paint. i had some orange peel on some areas so I wet sanded with 1000 and 1200 paper. My question is: what do I use to bring the shine back to the paint? a 7" hand grinder with buffing wheel? seems too fast. what kind of polishing compound?
