Marv, my 65 WM300 with a Meyer snow plow has functioned very well for the last five years. Then, a couple days ago just before we were due for 18 inches of snow and strong winds, I was doing a little plowing to widen the banks on my road. As I got back to the garage with the blade lifted, I noticed it would no longer respond to turning or lifting.
I put it in the garage to check it out. It sounded like a "click" when I moved any of the controls...seemed to be coming from the solonoid or relay under the hood.
I am used to thinking that this means a bad connection. So I started by removing one terminal on the pump motor and cleaned it up real well. I checked, and voila, it worked. I patted myself on the back.
Next day, the first wave of the storm blew in and dropped a lot of snow which drifted badly. I decided to make run with Marv so as to keep ahead of the worse stuff coming. Got down about a quarter mile from the house and I could not pick the blade up. It was impossible to go back up the hill pushing snow, so I was stuck down there.
I brought down the tractor and lifted the blade up with the front end loader, then reset the lift chain. After this, I could easily drive it back to the garage.
Now I started cleaning every terminal related to the plow....but nothing worked.
The unit is a Meyer E47, probably a pretty old system. There are two toggles in the cab, one for up/down the other for left/right. I filled the reservior but it was not really low anyway.
Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
