I have three different heater/defroster writeups on my website... One of them describes in detail how to install the complete M151 heater kit including the funnel shaped defroster units behind the dash with the air directed onto the glass (or on your feet if you flip the lever...).
I use a hunk of PVC that has a row of holes drilled in it slung on the top of the dash similar in function to the stock unit with a flex line connecting it to the diverter box on my M151 heater. Works great, was real easy to instal, and I'm not that worried about seeing the top two inches of my dash...
