Dont know about the F350, but 3rd gen Cummins are computer controlled. The engine has to crank at least 2 complete revolutions for the computer to get a signal from the crank position sensor. Once it knows the position, it can initiate the start sequence. My 03 Ram will always crank 2 or 3 seconds before it can start. Then start is immediate. Older non computer cummins will hardly crank and as soon as the engine is cranking, start immediatelly.
Maybe the F 350 has a computer that needs the above input ??
