I just bought a log house. It needs a new roof. Right now it has shakes. Under that is thick, about 2-3 inches, planks. Under that, is the inside of the house. No insulation at all. I am planning to put 2 inch thick closed cell foam on the roof deck, then put the steel roofing over that, and use long screws to hold it all on. The trouble is, the foam is only R10, and I don't think I can do two layers without making the whole thing unstable. The last thing I want is for my roof to blow off. Any roofing/insulation experts out there who have any other thoughts on this? PW content, I will use my 49 to haul some of this stuff, hopefully not the long hauls, though!!
Thanks
Dave
