i'm building a truck (body and axles from a '47, frame from a '55, engine and tranny from a '79), and i want to put tall tires on it to help counter the 5.83 rear end in it. but so far, the tallest tire i've been told i can safely put on the 9" wide rims is around 36" high.
so the question is: what rims will fit on my axles so that i can run a tire that's a bit wider, so i can get a taller (40") tire on there?
and if i do get different rims, how much should i ask for the old split rims? they're in great shape, just need sandblasting and painting....
thanks so much for all your help, your info has been great!!!
