I'm on my 3rd year with mine so I do have a little experience here. If you were planning on leaving in the Winters or not heating for extended periods of time then Yes, You might want to consider Glycol/antifreeze. $$$$ All kinds of options as just running your shop on a seperate/sealed line using a heat exchanger so the whole system wouldn't need antifreeze. That would be only if you weren't leaving.
I'm heating a 36' X 50' 2 story house with full basement and an attached 36' X 50 garage with radiant floor heat. First year with NO insulation in house used close to 25 cord. Second year with minimum R19, house wrap and new windows used a little less than 12 cord and it was a colder Winter. I can go at least 24 hours on a wood fill. Kevin
