I was watching a show last evening titled
"The man who predicted 911" about a Vietnam Veteran who was in charge of security for Stanley Morgan, and perished in the collapsing tower after saving numerous lives of co-workers. He was a helicopter pilot who fought at Ia Drang, which I belive was the first fixed pice battles during the US involvement in Vietnam. He seldom spoke of his experiences during the battle.
Today, I attended a veterans ceremony that posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross to a Boerne man, Donald D. Reynolds. He too, was a helicopter pilot that fought/flew at Ia Drang. His wife of 33 years never knew of his bravery, until after his death.
Makes a person wonder how many heroic stories go untold, men who risk it all and expect nothing......
