The former owner a couple owners back was the State of Washington that supposedly used it with an A-frame on it to set up tents at the fairgrounds. That's why the winch is worn out. Well, actually it's worn out because they used it all those years with no oil in it. The more recent owner replaced the clutch and starter and got it running.
The brake problem has me puzzled, though. I rebuilt the MC and all the wheel cylinders and first adjusted the pedal as per the TM, but it kept binding up. I then backed off to the 2-3" point thinking that should surely relieve the pressure. I took the boot off the push rod and can see that the piston is going all the way forward, and yet the pressure is still building up. The only thing that I'm thinking could be the problem is the replacement piston wasn't quite right and didn't clear the relief port, or the very thick (~1/8") washer that serves as the stop for the piston is too thick. I suppose it's also possible the relief port got clogged. I'll try to look down it through the filler cap and see if I can see the piston.
