My idea is that I really don't like being inside a steel box with 20 some gallons of gasoline. I like my trucks, but I don't want to be emolliated inside one of them.
Years ago, when I built my Studebaker, I had Rock Valley (http://www.rockvalleyantiqueautoparts.com/products.htm) make a stainless tank which fit on the inside frame rail, just to get that gas tank out of the cab. If you have decent welding skills, you can make one yourself, or look around at various fuel cells on the market. Can you locate a tank under the bed behind the rear end - relocate your spare tire?
