In cab gas tank conversion.

Hello All
I have a '73 dodge w100. I just put on a '79 6 ft. box and cab from a 2 wheel drive on it. The plastic side tank will not fit due to the crossmember of the divorced transfer case.I hate to use the original in cab because i'll have to cut a hole in the cab.Does any body have any ideas?
