the typo 'foo' should be 'off'! Locking diffs are great for off road traction! They actually lock both wheels in gear when needed thus instead af a 4X4 BEING ACTUALLY A 2X2 (WITH OPEN DIFFS) your truck would be a 4x3! The detroit locking diff requires no special ooil or care. It utilizes spring clutch disks and will automaticall let one axle slip when turning on hard pavement, you may experience a slight shift accompanied by a loud click at some times, this is normal for that type of locker.You always want to keep your tire's diameter within 1/4" of each other to keep from wearing out tires or the diff!
