Dodge D700 five speed?

I have located a 1970s D700 Dump Truck with a 5 speed transmission in it (at least that it what the shift handle indicates in an NP540 pattern). I have yet to get under it and investigate as I dont have permission to do so yet. But, as I sit here and wonder about it, I am curious. It has dual PTO ports. Could this be an overdrive NP540? or would they only use direct drive NP540 in such a large truck.
