Por is hard and more chip resistant than urethane. I have it on my tranny and PTO. In chop resistance it seems better than urethane.
The "problem" with POR I have firsthand experience with. It does not seem to "stick" to the steel as well as epoxy primer. IF you get a small scratch in it, moisture will attack the metal and then rust will creep under the paint . I saw this on my rear crossmember that had POR coating over prepped (scuffed and metal ready) steel.
For that reason I decided to do my frame and other parts in epoxy and urethane. If it chips I can fix it no problem.
When I sandblasted the metal to prepare it for epoxy primer, the POR delaminated in long sheets. THat told me it did not bond well to the metal.
