Brake probs

Hi Joe Mark from Australia how are you? Long time no talk. My Q is on the master cylinder there is a rubber seal on the rear of the piston but in my manual it does not show if the seal goes on the piston with the small end of the wedge facing forward or backwards. Any Offers??????
