There is a plug in the head above #6 cylinder. Remove plug and insert long rod. Rotate engine until #6 cylinder comes all the way up on compression stroke. #1 is now at bottom of exhaust stroke. Distributor rotor now points to number one.

Hope I said this right. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone here will have definitive answer.
