Engine ground strap

Discovered last night that my engine to {cab or frame} ground strap is not connected. I didnt have time to connect it yet. What,if any,effect does this have on the engine running properly? Would this also mess up the headlights,dimmer switch etc? Would it cause the engine to run rough at idle?
