Why .785 works

A circle is always 78.5% of the square surrounding it.

So when you multiply Bore x Bore x stroke (same as width x depth x length) you are finding the area of a cube.

When you multiply the result by .785 you're finding the volume of the cylinder that is bounded by the interior of the cube.
